SUMMARY:Putnam Series - Math & Statistics - Combinatorics
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:The Putnam Competition is a national mathematics exam for\nunde
rgraduate students. It is both a challenging and fun exam\, in\nwhich you
will practice your problem-solving and proof-writing skills.\nMost of the
problems require basic calculus and algebra knowledge\, so\nfirst-year stu
dents are encouraged to participate.\n\nPutnam sessions are an informal an
d friendly chance to meet other\nstudents and talk about problem solving.
Typically we will share some\nproblems in advance to think about\, have a
focused discussion at the\nbeginning of the session and then discuss some
of the problems\ntogether and have students present solutions. The meeting
s will be on\nZoom. If you are interested\, please contact Prof. Ivan Cont
reras\n(times subject to change).\n\nPutnam Series Dates - You can attend
as few or as many as you like.\nSession 7: Thursday\, October 8 (6:00-7:30
