The year 1611 gave birth to the Mead’s wood-paneled Rotherwas Room and William Shakespeare’s The Tempest, with its unforgettable character Caliban and his mirror image Ariel. Inspired by this historical convergence, Myers presents an installation of contemporary sculptures, textiles, and boats that question why the figure of the wildman appears again and again in literature and arts from the twelfth century to our current time.
