Trinkett Clark Memorial Student Acquisition Project
The Trinkett Clark Memorial Student Acquisition project, established with funds donated in 2008 by friends and family members in memory of the late Curator of American Art, allows students in the museum’s volunteer docents program to select an artwork priced at or below $2,500 for the permanent collection of the Mead Art Museum at Amherst College. Participating students in the project’s first year determined the scope of the memorial collection, which is still being formed: it is comprised solely of contemporary prints made by artists with ties to this region. Each prospective acquisition is evaluated according to its quality, rarity, historical importance, condition, authenticity, value for money, storage requirements, potential for exhibition, publication, teaching and research, and in light of any contingencies that might shape the museum’s ability to care for it.
The Mead welcomes donations in any amount to the Trinkett Clark Memorial Student Acquisition Fund. Please make checks payable to the Trustees of Amherst College, include the description “Mead student acquisition fund” in the check’s Note section, and send it to: Mead Art Museum, Amherst College, P.O.
