Trinkett Clark Memorial Student Acquisition Project

Trinkett Clark Memorial Student Acquisition Project

The Trinkett Clark Memorial Student Acquisition Project, established with funds donated in 2008 by friends and family members in memory of the late Curator of American Art, allows participating students to learn the ins and outs of museum art acquisitions by selecting an artwork priced at or below $2,500 for the permanent collection of the Mead Art Museum at Amherst College.

Participating students in the project’s first year determined the scope of the memorial collection: it is comprised solely of contemporary prints made by artists with ties to this region. Each prospective acquisition is evaluated according to its quality, rarity, historical importance, condition, authenticity, value for money, storage requirements, potential for exhibition, publication, teaching and research, and in light of any contingencies that might shape the museum’s ability to care for it.

The Mead welcomes donations in any amount to the Trinkett Clark Memorial Student Acquisition Fund. Click the button below to give online, or send a check payable to the Trustees of Amherst College to: Mead Art Museum, Amherst College, P.O. Box 5000, Amherst, MA 01002-5000.
