December 3, 2008—Sophomores Max Kaisler and Matthew Cosby of the college's Marsh Arts House organized and hosted the first No-Mic Open-Mic Poetry Reading. Poets and poetry-lovers alike were invited to read five to seven minutes of poetry—original works or personal favorites—in the Mead's Jacobean room from Rotherwas Court. Between 1949 and 1962, the space served as the site of Robert Frost's Sunday morning readings during the poet's regular visits to Amherst. The new event was a huge success, and will continue each month in the spring semester.
