August 5, 2009—Collections manager Stephen Fisher and collections intern Ashley Hogan '11 have been scanning up a storm with the Mead's new EPSON EXPRESSION 10000 XL. Purchased with funds from the Friends of the Mead Art Museum, this state-of-the-art scanner allows for rapid digitization of works on paper. After being scanned as both high-resolution TIFFs and low-resolution JPEGs, the images are color-corrected in Adobe Photoshop and then uploaded to the searchable, online collections database.
