May 30, 2010—During Reunion Weekend, dancers from the East Street Dance Center in Hadley and a string trio, led by Elizabeth Rose of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, performed in Moments of Grace: Ballet Meets Art at the Mead. The performance was inspired by dance motifs found in works of art currently on display in the galleries, including Arthur Davies’ Spring Ecstasy (1906), Robert Henri’s Salome (1909), and Everett Shinn’s Theater Scene (1906-07). Thomas P. Whitney '37 curator of Russian art Bettina Jungen  introduced the performers and discussed the relationship between dance, music, form and color.
