July 24, 2012—Six docents participated in this year's Trinkett Clark Memorial Student Acquisition Project: Annemarie Iker (Class of 2012), Chen Jiang (Class of 2015), Heather Lee (Class of 2015), Sylvia Li (Class of 2014), Lindsay Oxx (Class of 2014), and Leslie Quiroz (Class of 2013).After visiting R. Michelson Galleries in Northampton to explore various options with the gallery's manager, Paul Gulla, the participants narrowed their selections to suites of prints by Lynn Peterfreund and Linda Post, and then visited the artists' studios. The project ended with a happy surprise: following the participants' thoughtfully researched mock court-style presentations, the assembled group of docents, curators, and museum supporters cast their ballots in a perfect tie, prompting the Mead to acquire both suites of prints.

The Trinkett Clark Memorial Student Acquisition Fund honors a former curator of American art by allowing student participants in the Mead's volunteer docents program to research, select, and acquire for the permanent collection a contemporary American print with ties to this region. The Mead gratefully accepts donations in any amount to support this meaningful project.
