April 22, 2014—The Mead's print-storage room holds thousands of prints, and, as of last month, lacked sufficient space for any new print acqusitions. But after a week of renovation in March, the Mead now has even easier-to-use, greater space-maximizing storage for its growing print collection. Drawing on the expertise of a local storage specialist company, the Mead expanded its print-storage capabilities in a way that combines functionality with sleekness. The floor has been embedded with tracks on which all of the now-mobile cabinets run (including one new floor-to-ceiling cabinet that's twice the size of the old ones), their movement easily controlled by a mechanical wheel that you spin—with minimal effort.

The overall aesthetic may be minimalistic (metal shelves, neutral colors). But for prints, it’s a palace!
