Passenger Drop-off Information
Cars and Vans
Cars and Vans may drop passengers off in front of the Mead. Small vehicles should enter Amherst College's east entrance, on MA Route 9, opposite Dickinson Street. From the entrance road (East Drive) turn right, UPHILL, onto Barrett Hill Road. At the top of the hill, bear right to join the ONE WAY (counterclockwise) circulation around the quadrangle. The Mead stands on the east side of the quadrangle beside the landmark gray stone steeple, directly opposite the red brick Johnson Chapel with its white clock tower. Small vehicles may pause for up to 5 minutes to drop off passengers.
Buses must drop off and pick up in front of Amherst College's Converse Hall. Buses should enter Amherst College's main entrance, at the intersections of MA Routes 9 and 116, and then immediately turn left onto Boltwood Avenue. Converse Hall is the large red brick building with Ionic columns on Boltwood Avenue. After delivering passengers, bus drivers should turn right from Boltwood Avenue onto MA Route 9, and travel one-half mile east to the Hills Parking Lot (on the right side of MA Route 9). Buses are welcome to park in the Hills Lot for the duration of the visit.
