The Shepard Collection from the late 19th century was one of the best in the country at the time. It was deaccessioned to the Center for Meteorite Studies at Arizona State University in 1978. Today, a representative sample of eighteen of the original several hundred meteorites can be found on display in the hallway outside the museum's main floor.
