Frost Library, Friendly Reading Room

Please join us Thursday, Feb. 21, at 4 p.m. in Frost Library's Friendly Reading Room to celebrate recent publications by Amherst College faculty. Discussions will focus on Laure Katsaros’ exploration of the images of the mid-19th-century city in the poetry of both Whitman and Baudelaire in "New York-Paris: Whitman, Baudelaire, and the Hybrid City"; Chris Dole’s "Healing Secular Life: Loss and Devotion in Modern Turkey"; and Krupa Shandilya’s translation of Muhammad Hadi Ruswa’s famous novel, "Junun-e-Intezaar, The Madness of Waiting", with Taimoor Shahid. The authors will each be introduced by a colleague and give a presentation about their work, including comments on their research and writing process. This event is free and open to the public; light snacks will be provided.
