On Monday, Dec. 2, at 4:30 p.m. in Room 100 Clark House, Kunal Parker, professor of law at University of Miami School of Law, will present a paper entitled “How Law Should Avoid Mistakes: Alexander Bickel’s Jurisprudence of Mood.” This is the first presentation in a series of seminars that will take place this year on the theme “Law’s Mistakes.”

In addition to teaching at the University of Miami, Professor Parker also holds the title of Dean’s Distinguished Scholar. Prior to teaching, he practiced law in the area of bankruptcy with respect to complex financial transactions. His scholarship is focused in the area of colonial Indian legal history and U.S. citizenship and immigration history and theory. Professor Parker’s publications include "Common Law, History, and Democracy in America, 1790-1900: Legal Thought Before Modernism" (2011), and his current work to be published is on the history of U.S. immigration and citizenship law from the colonial period to the end of the 20th century.
