On Friday and Saturday, Nov. 14 and 15, in the Alumni House at Amherst College, there will be a conference entitled “Trial Films on Trial.”

The conference will feature presentations from a number of distinguished scholars, including Jeanine Basinger (Wesleyan College), Barry Langford (Royal Holloway University of London), Katherine Model (New York University), Jennifer Petersen (University of Virginia), Jessica Silbey (Suffolk University), Ticien Sassoubre and Norm Spaulding (Stanford University), Austin Sarat and Martha Umphrey (Amherst College).

The conference will examine the epistemology of the trial film, the way trial films situate themselves within narrative and visual conventions and the way they position their viewers as well as the work they ask of their viewers.

A schedule for the conference can be obtained in advance by email; contact Megan Estes at mlestes@amherst.edu. This conference is sponsored by Amherst College and Suffolk University Law School, Boston.
