Violist Delores Thayer plays a varied program of French, American and Argentinian viola music of the 19th and 20th centuries. Solo viola works include "Capriccio," by Henri Vieuxtemps of the 19th-century Franco-Belgian school; "Suite for Viola Alone," by the New England composer Quincy Porter; and "Polygraph," which is a musical rendition of truth-telling written by Amherst College faculty composer Eric Sawyer. Joining her for Vieuxtemps' "Elegie" and the rhythmic and colorful "Le Grand Tango," by the Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla, is Amherst alumnus and Dartmouth College pianist Gregory Hayes. Cellist Phillip Helzer joins in for the "Duet (Scherzo)," by the German/ New England composer Paul Hindemith, and for an arrangement of the famous "Oblivion," by Piazzolla.
