Over the next few weeks, you will be asked to write in ways that may be unfamiliar and daunting. Through various types of assignments, your professors will expect you to interpret, analyze, synthesize and, ultimately, contribute to academic discourse.
In this workshop, we will discuss the conventions of academic writing and then will explore the kinds of writing you can expect to do at Amherst and the common pitfalls you should avoid. This workshop provides a great opportunity to meet other students who might be equally mystified by college-level academic writing and to learn, collectively, how to enter the academic conversation. Taught by Senior Writing Associate Cassie Sanchez. Pre-registration is required.
