Fayerweather Hall, Pruyne Lecture Hall (FAYE 115)

Please join the Amherst Political Union this coming Saturday, October 29 for a breakfast reception and conversation with former CIA Director, John M. Deutch. As this event is scheduled over family weekend, please feel free to invite any and all family members that may be on campus. The breakfast reception will begin at 9 a.m. in the lobby of Fayerweather, and Director Deutch's talk will begin at 9:30 a.m. We understand that family weekend is a busy time, so please note that our event will conclude promptly at 10:30 a.m. to ensure that everyone has enough time to see Biddy's address at 11 a.m.

Here is a brief biography from Director Deutch's distringuished career in public service: "In May of 1995, John Deutch was sworn in as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency following a unanimous vote in the Senate. After his tenure at the CIA, Director Deutch served as the Deputy Secretary of Defense. In addition to these prominent cabinet positions, Director Deutch has also served in a number of positions at the U.S. Department of Energy. As if that is not enough, Director Deutch has also worked closely with numerous Presidential administrations, serving on the President’s Nuclear Safety Oversight Committee, the President’s Commission on Strategic Forces, and the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board, amongst others. John Deutch earned a B.A. in History and Economics from Amherst College (1960), and a B.S. in chemical engineering and a Ph.D. in physical chemistry, both from M.I.T."
