"Science and the Fight Against Poverty": Talk by Esther Duflo

Esther Duflo is a professor of poverty alleviation and development economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as well as co-founder and co-director of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab. She seeks to understand the economic lives of the poor, with the aim to help design and evaluate social policies. With Abhijit V. Banerjee, she wrote the award-winning Poor Economics: A Radical Rethinking of the Way to Fight Global Poverty. Duflo will be speaking as an Honorary Degree Recipient as part of Commencement exercises this weekend.
