William Cronon is an American environmental historian and a historian of the American West with a focus on landscapes and human interactions with the natural world. He is a professor of History, Geography and Environmental Studies at the University of Wisconsin—Madison. He has been a Rhodes Scholar, Danforth Fellow, Guggenheim Fellow and has been elected into several prestigious organizations, including the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Cronon will be speaking as an Honorary Degree Recipient as part of Commencement exercises this weekend.
