Please join us for public lectures delivered in celebration of the newly established Henry S. Poler 1959 and R. John Cooper 1964 Presidential Teaching Professorships.

Henry S. Poler 1959 Presidential Teaching Professor of English Geoffrey D. Sanborn's lecture, "The Mind in Motion,” will focus on his passion for and approach to teaching. In her lecture, "Why Philosophy?," R. John Cooper 1964 Presidential Teaching Professor of Philosophy Jyl Gentzler will take as her point of departure Socrates’ famous statement that “an unexamined life is not worth living" and discuss why philosophy is crucial to lives worth living.
