King Hall, French House Common Room

This fantasy/adventure film, directed by Alain Chabat, is one of the most successful French movies of the last 20 years. Astérix and Obélix, two famous Gaul comic book characters, are brought to life in this film by Gérard Depardieu and Christian Clavier. The plot of the film centers around a bet that Cleopatra has made with Julius Caesar. In order to win the bet and defend the greatness of her people, the queen of Egypt asks her architect to build a gigantic palace for Julius Caesar and take no longer than 3 months to do so. The poor man has no choice but to count on the magic and especially the powers of three Gaul friends: Astérix, Obélix and Panoramix. But things are not so easy. Jealousy, schemes, manipulations and even the army come into play and become major obstacles to the fulfillment of this important, seemingly impossible project.

This film will be screened in French with English subtitles. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome!
