Come join us in the WGC for a collaborative event with Feminist Education Series and Craftavist. We will be making tote bags with Jamezie! Originally from Philadelphia, Jamezie (they/them) is a transgender artist currently maintaining a studio in Boston. They are a recent graduate of The New England School of Art & Design where they concentrated in sculpture, performance, printmaking and philosophy. Their work has been exhibited in several venues and pop-up shows in the Boston area including “Blue”, an upcoming exhibition with the Cambridge Artist Association, and internationally in “TRANSEND.T: A Queer Themed Screen Exhibition” in Porto, Portugal and “Millionaires Can Be Trans*//You Are So Brave*” in Berlin, Germany.
Jamezie is one of the recipients of The International Sculpture Center’s 2015 Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award, and participated in residency with The Icelandic Printmakers Association in Reykjavik, Iceland. Their work and writing on gender was recently published in the magazine INSP 14.
They frequently collaborated with community collectives to organize and teach accessible art making workshops that encourage radical minded action for events including The Boston Anarchist Bookfair, Boston Zine Fest, and The Theater Offensive. In their free time Jamezie rides bikes, does witchcraft, writes zines about mental health, radical sobriety and gender issues, wears cute dresses.
