Writing with Miss Emily: A Camp for Writers Aged 9-12
In Writing with Miss Emily, young writers between the ages of 9 and 12 will be immersed in the creative work of Amherst’s most famous poet. From July 8 to 12, 2019, young writers will see Emily Dickinson's world from a poet’s point of view. The creatively inspiring and encouraging camp will meet daily at Amherst's Jones Library. During the week, attendees will spend one day touring and writing at the Emily Dickinson Museum, including in the poet’s recently renovated bedroom. At the end of the week, families and friends will join the accomplished writers for a reading at the Jones Library.
This workshop is co-sponsored by the Emily Dickinson Museum, the Jones Library and Mass Cultural Council. To register or for more information, please email edmprograms@emilydickinsonmuseum.org.

Amherst Arts Night Plus Open Mic
Join us at the Emily Dickinson Museum during Amherst Arts Night Plus on July 11, 2019, for our monthly Open Mic. Poets, writers and performers of any kind are welcome! Come early to view the pop-up, contemporary art exhibition in the Homestead by our featured artist. The Open Mic begins at 6 p.m. and will be followed by this month's featured readers. Those who would like to share their work should arrive between 5 and 6 p.m. to sign up.
This month's featured reader will be announced at a future date. This month’s featured artwork is our Conservatory Art Installation, In Suspension, by Tereza Swanda, Ingrid Pichler and Fletcher Boote. The exhibit will be accompanied by a dance piece by Kelly Silliman.

Buccaneers of Buzz: A Children’s Circus
Did you know Dickinson wrote around 100 poems about bees?
Join us this year at the Emily Dickinson Museum on July 20 for our Annual Children’s Circus, a family-friendly event that celebrates the role these important pollinators played in Dickinson’s poetry and in our lives today.
Learn more about the continued importance of pollinators with fun games, crafts, live music and a live demonstration hive. The Children’s Circus is free and open to all. Stop by between noon and 3:30 p.m. to see what all the buzz is about!

Dimensionism: Closing Concert
Join us to celebrate the closing of Dimensionism: Modern Art in the Age of Einstein with a live performance by the Amherst College Summer Treble Choir, conducted by Ellen Mutter '18, and the Madrigal Singers, co-directed by Ellen Mutter and Gilbert Wermeling '19. The concert will feature selections inspired by the Dimensionism exhibition, including Phillip Glass's Einstein on the Beach. This event is free and open to the public.
Take advantage of the evening’s live music to see this groundbreaking exhibition one last time before it closes on Sunday, July 28.

Iced Coffee Haus
In spirit of hot summer days and cold caffeinated beverages, The Common magazine will be hosting an Iced Coffee Haus on the Greenway Quad. Come listen to readings of pieces published in The Common, read something yourself, or just sit back, enjoy the performances and munch on some pizza. Professor Caroline Goutte is chair of the Department of Biology and a member of the Program in Biochemistry and Biophysics at Amherst College. Betsey Garand is senior resident artist in the Department of Art and the History of Art at Amherst College.
