Gleaning Day at Book & Plow Farm

10:15 am - 12:00 pm Book & Plow Farm

Meet at the farm by 10:15 a.m. to join Amherst Women’s Lacrosse and Springfield Hunger Relief Organization Rachel’s Table for a gleaning day. We will be harvesting kale, collards and more for donation. Please wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty, and dress in layers. We welcome all students, staff, faculty and community members to join us. You do not have to stay for the whole time, but the event will be going until noon.

Life Stories Lunch with Liz Agosto, Dean of Students

The Life Stories Lunch Series provides a forum to foster community through sharing stories of challenge, growth and meaning. At each lunch, a student, faculty or staff member talks about an aspect of their lives that may be meaningful to others, followed by questions and comments. Lunch is provided. Sponsored by the Counseling Center and the Wellness Team.

Puffers Pond in Amherst

Holy Stroll

1:00 pm Puffers Pond

Join us for a Holy Stroll, as we will take the basic elements of Christian worship out in the natural world. Walking along Puffers Pond, we will pause to pray, read and reflect on scripture. We will share in fellowship while we walk, and at the waters edge we will break bread together in the sacrament of Communion/Eucharist. We will leave campus by 1:15 p.m. and plan to return by 5 p.m. Please email RSL Protestant Advisor Rev. Anna Woofenden, awoofenden@amherst.edu, by Friday, October 18, to reserve a spot.

Observation and Action: Contemplation with Guitar

Through a structured and direct experience of silence, sound, time, and acoustic space, we will practice simplicity, presence and togetherness. No prior experience with music or meditation is required.
Guitars will be available for student use. If you have an acoustic guitar, you are welcome to bring it.
This session will be presented by Vic Rawlings, a musician, instrument builder, sound installation artist, and filmmaker based in western Massachusetts, in collaboration with Mark Hart, Buddhist Advisor for Religious and Spiritual Life.
