Weekly Writing Group

Trying to carve out time to write, away from distractions and in a comfortable space? The Center for Humanistic Inquiry invites faculty and staff to participate in an informal writing group every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon at the CHI during the fall semester. The Dean of the Faculty is sponsoring all drinks for writers gathered at CHI on Wednesday mornings, available from Frost Café. Just mention that you are part of the faculty/staff writing group.

Wall Street Journal Wednesdays

Please join Stephanie Hockman, Loeb Center program director for careers in business and finance for a weekly, informal discussion on any of your favorite Wall Street Journal articles. Join Tiffany Bradley for lunch and conversation in the MRC. Bradley is the founder of Colored Criticism, a company for cultural heritage stories. Her focus is on intersectional, interpersonal, and interdisciplinary arts. Bradley’s film work has been shown at Brooklyn Community Foundation and Rush Arts Foundation. Her writing has appeared in The Nation, Colorlines, Racialicious, and the Americans for the Arts blog. Tiffany has worked in audience development at the U.S. Department of Arts & Culture, Race Forward, Americans for the Arts, and Fractured Atlas.

Fiction Reading: Min Jin Lee

Min Jin Lee is the author of Pachinko, a four-generation saga of a Korean family that the San Francisco Chronicle called “Beautiful ... an extraordinary epic,” and which President Barack Obama selected for his recommended reading list, calling it, “a powerful story about resilience and compassion.” She is also the author of the prize-winning novel Free Food for Millionaires, and the recipient of numerous grants and fellowships. She is a current writer-in-residence at Amherst College. The event will be followed by refreshments.

Join the Loeb Center’s alum-in-residence, software engineer Thais Correia ’16, to learn about how to search for tech internships, create a great technical resume, and prepare for coding interviews.

This session is appropriate for all CS majors, including first years starting out with limited experience.
