This is an informal meeting with representatives of student organizations such as the Black Student Union, La Causa, the Amherst College Public Health Collaborative, Peer Mentoring Pre-Health Program, Association of Women in Science, GlobeMed, Charles Drew Health Professions Society, Project Salud, and Kidney Disease and Screening Program (KDSAP). This will be an opportunity for a dialogue. The students will share some of the work they’re doing on campus, and Dr. Wyche-Etheridge will offer her perspective and support from the context of her career and how her own Amherst experience was formative for her in the path she has pursued.
Release is an open forum for Amherst community members to talk about race, ethnicity, cultural identity, and current events impacting us at Amherst and beyond. Conversations center the experiences and voices of people of color.
This Arabic language table is a weekly conversation group for third-year Arabic students. We meet every Monday in the upstairs seating section of the Valentine Dining Hall, and anyone who can communicate in Arabic at the third-year level is welcome to attend. Syonara Tomoum will be present as a moderator.

Dr. Wyche-Etheridge has brought to her medical, public health, and public service career a deep commitment to address social injustice and inequity as it relates to the health and healing of people and communities. She has faced systemic challenges to addressing inequity, and through her leadership, has had a significant impact on dealing directly with the root factors that contribute to health and illness. She will discuss issues such as implicit bias in health care, the impact of racism on health, and the vital importance of engaging with patients and communities in a respectful, humble, and empowering way.
