Amherst College’s Bicentennial will celebrate the contributions the College has made to our students’ lives, to higher education, and to the world. It will allow us to reflect upon the institution’s extraordinary enduring qualities, the important ways we have changed, and new directions we may pursue over the next 100 years.
As we embark on the planning stage of this historic celebration, we invite College-affiliated offices, departments, groups, and individuals to submit suggestions for Bicentennial projects or events that not only commemorate the College's rich and diverse history, but also look ahead to where the College (and the world) could be headed. A Bicentennial Advisory Committee (BAC) of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and trustees will review the proposals and recommend a slate to be designated “official” Bicentennial programs and events, with final approval by the Bicentennial Steering Committee and President Martin. All proposals should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org. For scheduling purposes, we request that all proposals be submitted by February 3, 2020.
Please do your best to respond as completely as possible to the following seven questions, and feel free to submit additional information that will help to present as comprehensive a description of your idea as possible to the BAC. If you would like guidance or would like to talk through a potential project idea, please reach out to Rebecca Kennedy, Sandy Genelius, or Bett Schumacher.
