Events & Calendars "'Mistake' in American Criminal Law"

On Monday, Feb. 10, at 4:30 p.m. in Room 100 of Clark House, Jordan Steiker, professor of law at the University of Texas School of Law, will present a paper entitled “‘Mistake’ in American Criminal Law.” This is the second presentation in a series of seminars that will take place this year on the theme “Law’s Mistakes.”

Professor Steiker teaches constitutional law, criminal law and death-penalty law, and is the co-director of the law school’s Capital Punishment Center. Prior to teaching, he served as a law clerk to Justice Thurgood Marshall of the United States Supreme Court. Steiker has written extensively on constitutional law, federal habeas corpus and the death penalty. Recent publications include "Peculiar Times for a Peculiar Institution," 48 Tulsa Law Review 357 (2012), and "The American Death Penalty: Constitutional Regulation as the Distinctive Feature of American Exceptionalism," University of Miami Law Review 329 (2013).
