Amherst Tuning In is a new weekly social Zoom series supporting Amherst's music community as it takes up the question of how music is related to political activism. We'll celebrate the 19th Amendment's 100th anniversary with music, and take stock of barriers that must still be overcome in order to enfranchise all the voices of our democracy.

The series features 60 minutes full of music, socializing, presentations and discussions about voting rights and ongoing challenges to voting access.

Join the first Amherst Tuning In at 5:30 p.m. EST beginning Tuesday, Aug. 18, moderated by Gil Wermeling '19, and featuring ACVote representative Virginia Ryan '22 and graduate assistant for the music department Theo Peierls '20E. Tune in and find out what makes this day in history so special.

We'll talk about voter turnout, registering to vote-- and how confusing that can be --and highlight the Amherst.turbovote.org tool. See you there!

Next up: Tuesday, Aug. 24: Stories from alums about “The first time I voted.”
