Alexandra Morgan-Welch ’14 embodies the Amherst motto “Terras Irradient.” Her love of media began as a child, but Amherst emboldened her exploration of inter-disciplinary ideas and inspired her to blaze her own trail.

Alexandra has not always known what she wanted to do next, but always felt anchored by a long-term career vision. She feels comfortable learning in each moment rather than following a pre-determined path and embraces the notion that career goals are an outline rather than a manuscript. She has leaned into the adaptability and resilience she learned as a student on campus, balancing three majors (Mathematics, Film & Media Studies, and Music) and multiple campus activities.

Upon graduating, Alexandra joined Credit Suisse in their business operations rotational program. She left as a Senior Analyst to go to Columbia Business School, where she received her M.B.A. in Media, Technology and Strategy in 2019. At Columbia, she served as the Co-President of the Media Management Association and the Vice President of Communications for the Black Business Students Association.

While in business school, Alexandra interned at Comcast NBCUniversal in a number of strategy roles across their Corporate, Advertising Sales and Television divisions. Upon graduating from Columbia, she joined Comcast NBCUniversal’s Rotational Leadership Program and has spent time as a Strategy Director as part of Comcast Cable, Peacock, and most recently in Corporate Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion.

Alexandra’s path may seem prescribed in some of her choices, such as pursuing finance after college or earning an MBA. However, each step in her career journey has had a central purpose of skill building and exploration. She's constantly strived to step outside her comfort zone and learn new things. She believes in the liberal arts practice of humanistic inquiry and applies it to every step in her process.

Join Alexandra in this Loeb Center Alumni-in-Residence session for a candid conversation about her time on campus, her openness to new opportunities, and the comfort she’s found at creating her own path by combining intellectual curiosity, passion, energy, adaptability, and perseverance. Alexandra is excited to share her experiences, what shapes her thought process on when to make a change, and how she sees the role her Amherst education plays in her career exploration.
