Since graduating, Crystal Valentine '04 has used research skills, intellectual curiosity, and interdisciplinary approach gained through her liberal arts education to make an impact on individuals, companies, and industries. She has over two decades of experience as a tech executive and computer science researcher and professor. She now uses her skills as a venture investor at Cross Creek.

Crystal loves research investment processes and uses her Amherst education, technical and operating experience, and passion for tech to support the due diligence of Cross Creek investments. She's excited to share her perspective on venture investing, the importance of venture as an asset class, and how macroeconomics impacts company valuation.

Prior to Cross Creek, Crystal served as chief data strategy officer at Eventbrite and VP of Technology Strategy at MapR Technologies. Earlier in Crystal’s career, she served as a tenure-track assistant professor of Computer Science at Amherst. She earned her Master of Arts and PhD in Computer Science at Brown University.
