In this talk, Professor Christopher Grobe will examine the area of conversational interfaces, which now populate countless websites. He will show how Turing’s “imitation game” was interpreted as a “theatrical challenge" and how the first chatbot, ELIZA, was created using insights from the theater. He will also share his research in the field, as well as his interviews with actors, playwrights, screenwriters and other artists who work in the field of “conversation design.”
