CHI Think Tank, Lyceum 101

A conversation with Ted Mellilo (ENST, HIST) and Joe Moore (ENST, PHIL)

Over the past three decades, the new field of the environmental humanities has become a widely recognized area of research and cultural engagement. Bringing together insights and approaches from disciplines as diverse as history, philosophy, religious studies, anthropology, literature, gender studies, the performing and visual arts, cultural studies and communication studies, practitioners of the environmental humanities have been exploring new ways to understand, evaluate and address planetary ecological crises and sustainability issues.

Professors Melillo and Moore will explore the ways that the environmental humanities opens spaces for new discoveries in environmental studies and offers hope for the future relevance of the humanities more broadly. They will also discuss the course they are teaching this semester, "Finding the Humanity in Nature."
