Join us for a screening and discussion of the Oscars Best Documentary 2024 Nominee and BAFTA Best Documentary 2024, 20 Days in Mariupol. After the screening, there will be a Q&A session with professors Nataliia Bychkova (Amherst College) and Anna Nagurney (UMass Amherst).

This 2023 Ukrainian documentary film was directed by Mstyslav Chernov. The film tells the story of the 20 days Chernov spent with his colleagues in besieged Mariupol after Russia began its invasion of Ukraine. It offers a vivid, harrowing account of civilians caught in the siege, as well as a window into what it’s like to report from a conflict zone, and the impact of such journalism around the globe.
