This is an information session about pre-health at Amherst, including the pre-med track, facilitated by Dean Richard Aronson and Professor William Loinaz. It will be a great opportunity for you to ask questions about health professions, academic course selection, and other issues, and to learn about our program, which aims to build community among pre-health students.

Cases are not just for consulting interviews anymore. They are showing up in all types of interviews: marketing, banking, private equity, high tech, healthcare and a variety of other industries are also using cases to differentiate candidates. These workshops will give you an overview of the typical case path for case interviews and insight into why companies give case interviews and what interviewers are looking for. Throughout this fast-paced workshop you will be challenged to break down unfamiliar problems, think aloud, and tackle a variety of analytical problems with the help of your peers.
In Crack the Case Level 1 we introduce important case interview concepts and outline great ways to build your skills and consistency – whether you’re a complete beginner or already relatively familiar with case interviews. The MBA Case Workshop is the perfect way to hone your case interview skills as well as work with fellow classmates who are practicing. There are two workshops this fall, so you may come for the full day or just the morning or afternoon sessions. With consulting interviews just around the corner, now is the time to make sure you have what it takes to obtain that internship or full time positions.
Crack the Case Level 1 is from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. During the workshop you will:
• Practice answer first communication
• Learn how to manage your notes and use natural logic to structure and solve tough problems
• Analyze charts and break down numbers to gain insights
• Experiment with different ways to approach market sizing
• Put these concepts into practice by solving mini and full business cases!
You will leave the workshop with tactical tips, suggested homework and additional resources to continue your preparation on your own and with peers.
Crack the Case Level 2 is from 1:30 – 5 p.m.
Now it’s time to take your skills to the next level by practicing additional market sizing cases, structuring your case starts and solving more complex business cases. As a follow-on to the Crack the Case Level 1 workshop, this event is designed for those who will be interviewing with case intensive firms. Through a series of partner exercises and interactive, large group activities, you will have the chance to build deeper skills in the areas of structuring, analytics and answer first communication. Cases for this session will have more difficult math and additional handouts. During the workshop, we will:
• Incorporate tips for handling more unusual estimation cases
• Use your own integrated framework to approach a variety of business cases
• Practice mining for data and mid-case structuring
• Pull insights together to present logical and compelling conclusions.
You will leave the workshop with a better understanding of your strengths and soft spots that need additional drilling and improvement.
The Level 1 and Level 2 workshops each cost $99, or $150 for both. For Amherst College Students: Your student account will be charged your fee after the workshop. You will be billed if you do not cancel 48 hours in advance of the workshop date. Requests for scholarships should be e-mailed to Stephanie Hockman by September 1, 2019. For Smith College and Mount Holyoke College students, the fee is due on the day of the workshop (cash or checks made payable to Amherst College).

With state-of-the-art facilities, inspiring faculty mentors, and a jaw-dropping roster of famous alumni, this is the school for aspiring filmmakers. This is one of the only programs that allows you to learn old-school film production techniques—16mm or 35mm. Working in these media means that planning is everything and every shot counts—lessons that come in handy when you switch back to digital after the program.
The film is approximately 15 minutes long and will run three to four times during the hour with a Q&A time.

A representative from Yale Law School will be on site to speak in depth about the letters of recommendation portion of the law school application, as well as Yale Law School's specific program offerings and admissions processes.

As early as the spring of their first year, J.D. students gain first-hand experience with legal practice by participating in the Law School's many clinics, conferences, and other experiential learning courses.
In addition to Yale’s J.D. program, the graduate school offers a Master of Laws (LL.M.) program, open to those committed to a career in teaching law; a Doctor of the Science of Law (J.S.D.) program, open to graduates of the LL.M. program at Yale Law School; a Master of Studies in Law (M.S.L.) program for non-lawyers who wish to obtain familiarity with legal thought and explore how law relates to their discipline; and a Ph.D. in Law, offered in conjunction with Yale University's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.

The QRC, WGC, and Law Office of Peter Irvine in Northampton are teaming up to bring the Amherst College community a pop-up legal clinic that will center the needs and concerns of Trans and nonbinary folks in pursuing name and gender marker change on our official documents! Visiting legal team, paralegal Sarah Wolfe and attorney Peter Irvine will lead a conversation and overview of the process, followed by appointment times to meet one on one with Peter or Sarah.
Lunch will be provided.

Project Horseshoe Farm is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization offering unique, hands-on opportunities for recent graduates and undergraduates interested in leadership, service, and community-based healthcare.
Located in rural Greensboro, Alabama, the organization manages several innovative programs to support and improve the health and quality of life of adults in its community, including the elderly and those with mental illness. It also runs a comprehensive K-12 after school program for underserved children in the area.
In addition to managing Adult Day Programs, Youth Programs, two Enhanced Independent Living Housing Programs, fellows and interns have opportunities to shadow and learn about psychiatry, nursing, social work, and family medicine. Past fellows have gone on to pursue medicine and other graduate studies at top institutions across the US, as well as education and nonprofit work.

This intensive, 2-day boot camp provides hands-on financial modeling training.
Adventis’ unique training style consists of having students build financial models and analyses entirely from scratch, while explaining key concepts along the way. This approach enables students to retain more concepts and develop a valuable skill set. It also provides the basis for students to proceed with their certification. Certified students have been able to demonstrate to employers that they have strong analytical capabilities and are ready to hit the ground running. It has also proven to be a great discussion topic for networking and interviews. Springfield Bound is a day-long interactive event connecting students, faculty, and staff members from the Five Colleges who are interested in interning, volunteering, and collaborating with community leaders of Greater Springfield. This event offers a diverse set of workshops led by community organizations and walking tours of Springfield’s downtown and neighborhoods.
