Commencement Charles Gilbert ’71

Charles D. Gilbert ’71, P’19, Arthur and Janet Ross Professor of Neurosciences and Behavior and head of the Laboratory of Neurobiology at The Rockefeller University, is a pioneering neurobiologist and researcher of the neural mechanisms of visual perception, learning and memory. 

Gilbert was awarded a Doctor of Science honorary degree by Amherst College. See the honorary degree citation read by President Biddy Martin at the Commencement 2022 ceremony. 

Sally A. Kim, Assistant Professor of Biology, introduced Gilbert’s talk on “Brain Dynamics.”
