Born in Buffalo, New York to parents Edwin and Mildred, he later moved west with wife Sandra for an internship at Stanford University Medical School. He and Sandy then moved to Southern California where he continued his training at USC at Los Angeles County Hospital (where his son Ted, 40 years later, is completing his residency in neurosurgery).

Noting a need for Spanish speaking physicians, Ted obtained a grant to study Spanish, allowing him and Sandy to live in Mexico for a year (a time he recalled fondly in later years). Ted had a long and fulfilling career as a psychiatrist, psychoanalyst and training and supervising analyst and was in private practice in Irvine since 1973. He was a member of the Southern California Psychoanalytic Institute.

He loved music and derived much pleasure attending concerts at the Disney Center, particularly when Dudamel was conducting. He was a caring and passionate man in all facets of his life.

Ted is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sandra; son, Edwin and his fiancé Amber; his daughter, Signy and her partner Angel; and granddaughter, Sandra-Grace.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 21, at 2:00 PM at University Community Center, 1 Beech Tree Lane, Irvine, CA 92612. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the LA Philharmonic Association's Education Programming in Edwin's name. Please see www.LAphil.com.
