AMHERST, Mass. - The Amherst College Creative Writing Center will continue its Fall Reading Series with an appearance by British-Guyanese author Pauline Melville on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 8 p.m. in Porter Lounge at Converse Hall.

Melville, who has been described by The New York Times as "a discerning observer and gifted satirist," has written a highly praised novel, The Ventriloquist's Tale, and two collections of short stories. The first, Shape-shifter, won several awards, including the Guardian fiction prize; the Times described the second, The Migration of Ghosts, as "splendacious."

The Amherst College Creative Writing Center puts on a yearly reading series featuring both emerging and established authors. The Center's Website is at http://www.amherst.edu/~cwc.
