AMHERST, Mass.—University of Massachusetts professor Elizabeth Chang, violin; Amherst College professor David Schneider, clarinet; Amherst College piano instructor Alissa Leiser, piano; and Volcy Pelletier, cello, will together present a concert of music by French composer Olivier Messiaen on Sunday, June 8, at 7 p.m. in Buckley Recital Hall in the Arms Music Center at Amherst College.

The faculty and their fellow performers will play a program of Messiaen’s works, including his early and rarely performed “Theme and Variations” (1932) for violin and piano and what many regard as the composer’s masterpiece, “The Quartet for the End of Time” (1941), a deeply spiritual work written during World War II while the composer was interned in a German POW camp.

This concert is open to the public at no charge; it will last approximately one hour. Seating is by general admission.
