Emily Dickinson Museum and Emily Dickinson International Society Present Exhibition by Artist Alberto Mancini

AMHERST, Mass.— I’ll tell you how the Sun rose, an exhibition by Italian artist Alberto Mancini, will be on view at the Eli Marsh Gallery at Amherst College from Sunday, Aug. 3, to Sunday, Aug. 10. The exhibit, sponsored by the Emily Dickinson Museum, includes 29 paintings inspired by the poetry of Emily Dickinson and is on view in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Emily Dickinson International Society (EDIS). The Society will hold its annual meeting in Amherst this year on the weekend of Aug. 1.

Amherst College Names Peter Rooney New Director of Public Affairs

AMHERST, Mass. – Amherst College is pleased to announce that Peter Rooney has accepted the position of director of Public Affairs. Rooney, who currently serves as vice president of Gehrung Associates, a media consultancy in Keene, N.H., will assume his new role at Amherst on Sept. 1.
 
“In addition to bringing to the position a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of higher ed in general, Peter has shown great enthusiasm and passion for Amherst’s mission and programs,” said President Anthony W. Marx. “I am certain he will be a wonderful leader for the college’s Public Affairs team.”
