AMHERST, Mass. – Amherst College student Marshall Nannes ’09, baritone, will perform his senior honors thesis recital on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 8 p.m. in Buckley Recital Hall of the Arms Music Center at Amherst College.
Nannes has performed extensively in musical theater and classical realms during his time at Amherst. A native of Bethesda, Md., he began his vocal study with Myra Tate and currently studies with William Hite, senior lecturer at the University of Massachusetts.
In 2007, Nannes attended the Aspen Opera Theater Center at the Aspen Music Festival and School, where he studied with Professor W. Stephen Smith of the Juilliard School. He performed in Cosi fan tutte, as well as the North American premiere of Cavalli’s Eliogabalo, on the stage of the Wheeler Opera House. His roles at Amherst have included Binny in the 2007 premiere of Our American Cousin and the Father in the Amherst Symphony Orchestra’s 2007 production of Hansel und Gretl. Nannes’s senior thesis recital, titled To the Distant Beloved, will feature works by Beethoven, Mozart, Ralph Vaughn Williams and Rodgers and Hammerstein.
This concert is open to the public at no charge. Seating is by general admission.
