AMHERST, Mass.—The musical God Is Dead, a senior thesis in music composition by Kyle Boatwright ’09, will be presented on Saturday, Jan. 31, at 8 p.m. in Buckley Recital Hall in the Arms Music Center at Amherst College.
In Boatwright’s humorous yet poignant work based on Ron Currie Jr.’s satirical novel of the same title, God travels to Earth in human form. His journey is cut short when He perishes in the violence plaguing Darfur. From there, the show explores the changes that occur in a world without God. The musical will be fully staged and orchestrated and will be directed by Daniel Curtis ’08 and Scooter Werner, a 2005 graduate of Hampshire College. Both the cast and the orchestra are composed exclusively of Five College students and alumni.
