AMHERST, Mass.—The Dave Pietro Group will play the music of Stevie Wonder at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, in Buckley Recital Hall at Amherst College to raise money for the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts. During the event, the group will be joined by the Amherst College Jazz Combos and the Amherst College Jazz Ensemble.
The Dave Pietro Group features Dave Pietro on saxophones, Peter McCann on guitar, David Berkman on piano, John Ebert on bass and Mark Ferber on drums. For their Amherst debut, they will play arrangements from their Standard Wonder recording.
A native of Southboro, Mass., Pietro has been on the New York jazz scene since 1987. His gifts as a saxophonist, composer and educator have made him an in-demand musician, leading to performances at jazz clubs, jazz festivals, schools and concert halls in more than 30 countries throughout Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and South America.
