AMHERST, Mass.—The Music at Amherst Series will close its 2008-09 season with the acclaimed pianist Boris Berman on Sunday, March 8, at 4 p.m. in Buckley Recital Hall of the Arms Music Center at Amherst College.
Known to music aficionados around the world, Berman performs regularly with premier orchestras and chamber ensembles and as a recitalist. He is renowned for his exquisite technique, refinement and unique ability to bring colorful expression and power to the works he performs without emotional and physical affectation. The Los Angeles Times has hailed him as having “the unmistakable stamp of the great Russian tradition of breathless virtuosity and absolute security” and being “capable of generating electrical excitement.”
The first half of Berman’s all-Chopin and Debussy performance will include Chopin’s Barcarolle; 3 Nocturnes, Op. 15; 2 Nocturnes, Op. 27; and Polonaise—Fantaisie. Berman will close the concert with Debussy’s Images (books 1 and 2) and Estampes.
Individual tickets to each Music at Amherst Series concert go on sale two weeks before the event date. Tickets cost $28 for the general public, $22 for senior citizens and Amherst College Employees, $12 for students with ID and $7 for Amherst College students.
