AMHERST, Mass.—T. Michael Kelly, associate curator of the Fales Library and Special Collections at New York University, has been named head of Archives and Special Collections at Amherst College’s Frost Library. His appointment is effective April 1.

As head of Archives and Special Collections, Kelly will oversee the care and exhibition of the library’s notable collection of 50,000 rare books and archives. The collection totals about 25,000 linear feet and includes the literary papers of Emily Dickinson, Robert Frost, Richard Wilbur ’42 and Louise Bogan.

Before taking his position at NYU in 1998, Kelly served for two years as humanities reference librarian at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. In addition to his M.L.S. from the University of Texas at Austin, Kelly earned an M.A. in English from the University of Virginia. He did his undergraduate work at Boston College, where he earned a B.A. in English.

Kelly is a member of the Rare Books and Manuscripts and the English and American Literature sections of the American Library Association, Beta Phi Mu, the Bibliographical Society of America and the Grolier Club.
