AMHERST, Mass.—Student chamber musicians studying with music professor Jenny Kallick will present a concert titled Music for Celebration on Monday, December 7, at 5 p.m. in Buckley Recital Hall in the Arms Music Center at Amherst College.

The performance will highlight pieces by Dohnyányi and Ravel that were composed in celebration of important events in the composers’ lives. Emily Mackey ’10, violin; Hana Kommel ’10, viola; and Carrie Edmundson ’10, cello, will play Dohnyányi’s 1902 Serenade in C major for string trio, Op. 10, composed to celebrate the birth of his son. Ravel’s Sonata in C major for violin and piano, composed in celebration of the end of the Great War, will be performed by Alicia Ciccone ’11, violin, and Kimberly Kim ’11, cello.

This concert is free and open to the public. No reservations are required.
