AMHERST, Mass.— The Amherst Symphony Orchestra will present a special winter concert, titled “Musical Landscapes,” on Saturday, Feb. 27, at 8 p.m. in Buckley Recital Hall in the Arms Music Center at Amherst College. Tickets can be reserved by emailing concerts@amherst.edu or calling 413/542-2195.

The concert will begin with the East Coast premiere of Tides of Golden Gate, by John Redmond Downey, Jr. ’03, which was first performed by the orchestra on tour at Stanford University in October 2007. The program will continue with Carl Maria von Weber’s Bassoon Concerto featuring soloist Daniel Freilich ’10 and conclude with Sibelius’s atmospheric and majestic Symphony #2 in D.

Tickets prices are $8 for the general public and $4 for seniors, students and children 12 and under. It is free to Five College Students with valid ID.
