AMHERST, Mass.—The Amherst College Women’s Chorus, directed by Mallorie Chernin, will present its annual Spring Concert on Friday, April 30, at 8 p.m. in Buckley Recital Hall in the Arms Music Center at Amherst College.  Jimmy Laff ’09 will serve as assistant director of the group and Ophelia Hu ’12 will accompany on piano. 

The Women’s Chorus will be performing music with a wide variety of styles and languages. Featured on the program are two songs taught in the oral tradition by former Amherst College student Mollie Stone ’01: “Bring Me Little Water Sylvie,” and “Ergen Deda,” a Bulgarian folk song. Also on the program are songs by Claudio Monteverdi, Wolfgang Mozart, Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Hatfield.  Scott Smith ’09 and Benjamin Bresler ’11 will be making a guest appearance, adding bass guitar and drums to a “surprise” song.
