Bach, Albert Roussel’s hauntingly beautiful early-20th-century setting of Pierre de Ronsard’s Renaissance poetry for soprano and flute and Grodon Jacob’s Three Songs on madrigal texts for soprano and clarinet. The concert will also feature a piano sonata by J. S. Bach’s son Johann Christian Bach, Debussy’s Syrinx for unaccompanied flute and a trio for flute, clarinet and piano by Ravel’s contemporary Maurice Emmanuel. Performers include Amherst College music professor David Schneider on clarinet and instructors Junko Watanabe, lyric soprano; Alison Hale, flute; and Alissa Leiser, piano.
