Amherst Symphony Orchestra to Perform Concert of Beethoven, Mahler to Welcome the Class of 2014

AMHERST, Mass. – The Amherst Symphony Orchestra will present its season-opening concert on Saturday, Sept. 25, at 8 p.m. in Buckley Recital Hall in the ArmsMusicCenter at AmherstCollege. The event celebrates and welcomes the Amherst College Class of 2014, and is open to the public.
The concert will feature the Beethoven Concerto for Violin & Orchestra, Michiko Theurer ’11, violin soloist; and the Finale to the First Symphony in D major by Gustav Mahler. Mark Lane Swanson will conduct. There will be a special complimentary reception following the concert in the ArmsMusicCenter lobby to celebrate the new students.
Tickets are available to the general public for $10. Tickets for senior citizens, students with ID and children under 13 are $5. There is no charge for FiveCollege students. Tickets will be sold at the door and may be reserved in advance by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
