AMHERST, Mass.—On Thursday, Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m., the Mead Art Museum, together with Amherst College’s Center for Community Engagement and the Department of Art and the History of Art, will present the four 2010 recipients of the Summer Fellowship in History of Art and the Practice of Art: Julia Massey ’12, Laila Milevski ’11, Zoe Pagonis ’11 and Angela Pratt ’11. Milevski, Pagonis and Pratt will share their summer experiences and projects in a public presentation. They will also discuss the work of Massey, who is currently studying abroad.
Massey was the photography intern at the City Parks Foundation of New York. Milevski worked as the production intern for Drawn and Quarterly, a renowned publisher of art and literary comics in Montreal. Pagonis worked as the major gifts intern at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. And Pratt was the education assistant at the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Mass.
Intended to assist with summer projects, either as a participant in an established program or independent study, the Mead’s Summer Fellowships are open annually to Amherst College students with at least one remaining semester of study. “We’re delighted to support our students in such worthy projects,” said Elizabeth Barker, director of the museum. “We look forward to learning about these past summer experiences and encourage others to apply for such fellowships in the future.”
The Mead Art Museum houses the art collection of Amherst College, totaling more than 16,000 works.
